Early 1900's:Bohemia Czechoslovakia: Artist Signed, Antique Hand Painted Plate

Many hand decorated Bohemian pieces offer the romantic and alluring colors used on this plate. Cherry Blossoms or possibly wild roses, in hues of pink and soft greens lay against a misty background created from shades of the same colors. This "look" was very popular in the Bavarian, Rosenthal and the Czechoslovakian Bohemia Ceramic Works of the early 1900's. This MINT, 7" plate carries the mark of the Lion indicating manufacture by Bohemia Ceramic Works, Czechoslovakia. Bohemia Ceramic was founded in 1921 and closed in 1945. Because they worked in partnership with Rosenthal until the late 1930's, many of the Bohemian and Bavarian pieces carry similar traits. (I have pictured this plate with a Rosenthal, Bavarian, piece to show the similarity -- these two pieces look like they were made to go together!) The plate has a thin flat gold rim that is 100% intact! The artist initialed the plate on the back as B.S. The plate is beautiful!
