Happy Holidays! FALL & HOLIDAY WINTER SALE! MORE Prices Reduced! Updated LAYAWAY Plan!...We're all in this together...
Copyright date of 1894 by this reknowned religious writer of the late 1800's and early 1900's. This book: "TITUS: A Comrade Of The Cross," appears to be her first written and this the first form in which the book was published. The front cover states a $1000 Prize winning story which then indicates it was submitted for a contest and won. At the printing of this 7" x 9 1/2" paper book, it is stated that more than 500,000 copies had already been sold. The book sold for FIVE CENTS which included shipping---imagine! Further at the end of the book, there is an inclusion of a future plan for publication of the book with cloth and hard cover that would be 300 pages in a larger print. That book did present itself in 1899. This copy includes a small oval picture of the author on the front page and states that this is a "Tale of the Christ for the Christmas Tide." The initial owner has written her name on the inside front cover and the cover and first initial pages are dog earred. There is light soiling and the cover also shows edge wear. The book is 93 pages of fairly small print in a larger than normal illustrated format. The author also includes an appendix which explains how she came to write the fiction book, based on Biblical accounts of Christ, and her purpose and drive in doing so. From here she went on to write several other religious, Christian based stories and books.
