SOLD "Brave Men," By Ernie Pyle ~ Non-fiction ~ A Close Up View of WWII (World War Two)
Don't Forget VETERAN'S DAY ! Ernie Pyle may have been one of the bravest news reporters that ever lived--especially for his time--and was said to have the wit of Mark Twain. His works; a chatty "front porch style" of writing that put the reader at ease and transported them to the battlefield in an age before television could give Americans at home a "picture" of what was happening overseas. Ernie Pyle compiled many of his war coverage newspaper columns to make this book a sequential "story" about the war through his eyes. Pyle traveled with the soldiers right into combat into the battlefields. He had written this dedication in the forward of this book; "In solemn salute to those thousands of our comrades--Great, Brave Men that they were--for whom there will be no homecoming, ever." During his last assignment, in 1945, he received a fatal shot along with his fellow soldiers . Not only was Ernie Pyle a War Hero--this book as well as his others, gives us more insight into the reality of the day to day "routine" during World War II than perhaps any other writings. This hardback book is in Excellent Condition. All pages are clean and intact. Very MINIMAL wear to bottom edge of cover. This book would be a wise choice, and a perfect read at a time like this!
