The plastic coated cover of this1955, Walt Whitman Classic "LITTLE WOMEN" is in good condition and opens to colored end pages decorated with Fleur de Lis. The book has the soft pages, high in cotton content, typical of the era in this type of book, and is quite well illustrated with numerous pictures. The illustrations are one and two colored. The book remains in VERY GOOD Condition--with Cover, Binding, & Pages all FULLY INTACT! The normal age discoloration of pages--but no marks or writing found throughout. These scenic Hard Back Covered books that were prevalent in the 1950's offered the look of a dust jacket without the annoyance of the jacket falling off or being so easily torn. These covers were used for children's and adult books as well and have on their own a thin film of plastic or protective covering. Many of the adolescent books from my childhood were made in this manner including this edition of Louisa May Alcott's Classic: LITTLE WOMEN. These Whitman Classics were intended for a pre-teen or adolescent audience.
