Only 20 Days 'til Hanukkah, 31 Days 'til Festivus, 33 Days 'til Christmas, and Kwanzaa in 34 days...OH BETTER GET SHOPPING!
The history of the purse dates it to the 1800's. Besides well made, the hand bag has been very well kept and protected. The glass beads glisten and sparkle and it is so impossible to catch the beauty of it in a photograph. It measures 8 1/4" wide and from the frame to the tip of the looped fringe it is 13 1/2". The bag was hand sewn to a decorative dark metal frame that has an intricately etched or engraved pattern. The frame itself has a uniquely shaped raised border of shield shapes with a medieval appearance--puts one in the mind of a Knight's "chain mail." The metal handle (carrying chain), the frame, and the border have a lovely patina and also a slight brassy appearance. The silver content has not been tested. The interior is lined with a lovely lavender satin that remains in Excellent Condition! The beading of the exterior is also in Excellent Condition with a floral spray that includes red and yellow roses. The multi color floral pattern gave the purse owner the ability to use it with many dresses in their wardrobe and with the overall black back ground may also have been used as part of mourning attire. The floral pattern is the same front and back. The bag is loose from the frame with some loss of beading at each hinge as shown and the new owner might wish to have this portion restored as well as a few loose beads along one seam. The beading appears to be intact through out the design and the greatest portion of the purse has absolutely no issues! The looped fringe is also intact. Beautifully exquisite.
