These two beautiful luster salts are 1 1/2 inch around. The history of these salts is so interesting. They are marked Belleek. Before 1900 there were several companies in the United States that made beautiful porcelain and put the Belleek name. "American Ceramic Co. tried to imitate the famous Irish product and they did they produce some of the most beautiful porcelain ever made in the states. Walter Scott Lenox was born in Trenton N.J.and was very interested in the science of making pottery. In his 20's he became art director at Ott and Brewer, which was the first American Ceramic firm to make items that were called Belleek. Lenox and a fellow employee (that he eventually bought off) founded their own company they called Ceramic Art Co. This mark a circle with a cursive "L" inside. There is an artist pallet with brushes to one side. The word Belleek was below. The Ceramic Art Co became Lenox at this time. In 1924 Lenox was forced to drop the Belleek after losing a Lawsuit to the Irish Belleek Co This information was taken from "Price it Yourself" by Helaine Fendelman and Joe Rosson. These salts must date from 1900-1924. They are beautiful salts. These two salts are light in the application of the orange luster on the sides.
