This is PERFECT timing for these two partisan pins. Each was put out by the GULF oil company back in the 1960's. The first is the Republican elephant (3/4 square) with two good luck horseshoes and the second is the Democrat donkey (3/4 by 7/8) counterpart. Each includes the squeeze tab type of pin closure and comes on it's ORIGINAL presentation card. I would tell you these are in EX unused condition. They probably were tossed into the jewelry box, jostled around and hidden away until now.
