Beautiful Japanese Imari Plate, 19th Century.

A beautiful hand-painted Imari plate with traditional Japanese design, parcel gilt and polychrome painted in red, blue, green and gold, three central flowers surrounded with a blue border, the outer rim decorated with cartouches interspersed with flowers, foliage and houses.

Measures: 8 3/8" diam

Signed with a Japanese imitation of a Chinese mark of the Ming period. Made at the Arita kiln. Most likely pre-early Taisho (1913-1926) period.

In excellent condition, no chips or cracks, some wear to gilding on rim and interior, the back with original kiln crack mark.
