A Tousled Haired American Gentleman, ca 1810. He wearing a black coat, white stock and cravat. A watercolour on ivory in an oval gold pendent frame. 1 5/8" (w) x 2" (h).

On the reverse is an elaborate hairworks memorial to TBW lovingly rendered with two hearts pierced/joined by an single arrow atop a monument watched over by the all-seeing eye within a triangle - a Christian?/Masonic? symbol. To the right and left of the monument are plants, the one to the right, perhaps the biblical Rose of Sharon. A tiny insect flies in from the left.
