A Gentleman, by Nathaniel Plimer, ca 1790. He with a 'brutas' style haircut, wearing a black coat, red and white striped shirt and a white cravat. Watercolour on ivory with a sky background set in a black papier mache frame 4 1/4" (w) x 4 3/4" (h). Miniature is 2 1/4" (w) x 2 3/4" (h) Has an unusual musical motif finial (does that indicate that the sitter was a musician?)
