Hollow-cut silhouette of a Gentleman, ca 1800, by William Farthing of Cheapside (London). In a turned wood frame 4 1/8" wide by 5" high. (When making a hollow-cut silhouette the artist cut the outline of the silhouette in white paper and placed a piece of black paper behind the cut out creating a black silhouette.)
