A fine, tightly stitched silk embroidered picture, English School, ca 1900 depicting an avenue of green grass lined by shrubs and fir trees leading to the door of a rose-bordered cottage. The perspective is very well executed. The shrubs, expertly layered over ground and trees, appear three dimensional and those at the right throw shadows over the avenue, as does the chimney pot over the roof. The silkwork is in its original rosewood frame with gilt liner. The frame size is 7 1/4" (w) x 8" (h). ...
