Sophie de France is one of Louis XV's ten children with Marie Leszczynska. The original portrait was by Jean-Marc Nattier, a well respected French artist (1685-1766). This miniature portrait is most likely a decorative copy of Nattier's original painting. It is signed what appears to be J Nattier, but this was common in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century when a work was copied. The portrait is in very good condition. It measures 2 1/8" in diameter approximately. The frame measures 4 11/16" by 4 13/16" approximately.
