This 1950's era pair of Cucumber & Beet anthropomorphic salt and pepper shakers are cute and unique. Most likely made in Japan although they are not marked as to maker. Made of glazed ceramic and modeled as a colorful cold-painted beet and cucumber head with human-like faces and feet. They are decorated in pale green and bright red with black accents. Their facial features are vivid and have whimsical expressions. In great condition with no chips or cracks; one tiny spot of cold-paint loss on the beet, and both have their original rubber stoppers. Each measures 4-3/4" tall and is 2" wide at the "feet". Anthropomorphics are SO collectible now - This is a fun set for your S&P collection !
