They were bought over many years by an antique dealer from Camden Passage as a retirement fund.
This one measures 3" (8 cms) high x 4 1/2" (12 cms) wide and is hallmarked London 1923 - and made by the silversmiths Charles & Richard Comyns.
This a really heavy and good sized cut glass jar with a star cut base in lovely condition and with a super tortoise shell top which is full of the whole range of browns and tans you typically get with good quality tortoise shell.
There is a plain circular silver ring inlaid on the top which is lovely, and a good bold hallmarked silver rim.
