This is such a wonderful ladies' album, and it was given to a son by an "affectionate mother" in 1872. Some of the writing, however, go back to 1854, so perhaps she gave him the book she had as a girl. This one is so beautiful, though it has seen some damage over the years. It gives the appearance of an album often read, and cherished. Inside there are passages of poetry, and some drawing. The book has wonderful flowers on the front, ivory feet on the back, and all the pages are intact. There is damage to the leather spine; a portion is missing, and the spine, on the inside, has been reinforced at some time with a sort of colored tape. It is holding tightly however, and no pages are loose. This would provide hours of pleasurable reading, as well as beauty to a parlor table. The album measures 9 inches North to South, and 6 inches East to West.
