This is a lovely brooch, with a portrait miniature painted on jet. The piece still has the original "c' clasp, and "t" hinge, and it measures 3 and 1/4 inches East to West, and 2 and 1/4 inches North to South. The brooch is circa 1860, and is in very good condition. There are a few scratches on the jet, not the portrait, which show in the photo. Remember, I am using a macro lens, though, so the scratches show up more in the picture than they would to the naked eye.
