This is a nice three volume set of the works of Lord Byron, the famed Romantic Poet. The books have leather spines and corners, marbled board front and back, and marbled paper fronts and endspieces. The volumes were published in London in 1886, and, save for some rubbing to the marbled paper, they are in excellent condition. The ends of the pages are this amazing, bright, greenish yellow. We often think of the Victorians as having muted colors, but I have seen some bright ones of items from this era, and the ends of these pages are an example. The books measure 7 and 1/4 inches North to South, 5 inches East to West, and 1 and 1/4 inch thick. This marbled paper is wonderful. Try going to Venice and seeing what, even a new address book with marbled paper, on cardboard, costs! Note: There is no rubbing of the marbled paper on the inside of the books. What is showing in the photo is flash glare.
