This is one of the great Scottish brooches, or so called "pebble jewelry' that Queen Victoria immortalized. This one is composed of Sterling silver and malachite. Malachite is my favorite of the agates used in these pieces. The pieces is this brooch, circa 1870, are a lovely apple green. The brooch still has its original "c' clasp, and "t" hinge, The brooch measures 2 inches in diameter, and is in excellent condition. All of the malachite is present.
