This lovely item is a piece from my own personal collection. I bought it about fifteen years ago, before I went into business. I love it, but have kept too many. It is unusual to find a cross of hair under glass. It is gold and I think an American piece, but it's atleast 10K. The back is engraved "Cornelia" and I think the piece is circa 1860. It measures 1 and 1/2 " long, and 1 and 1/4 inches wide. It is in excellent condition,

This is another of the pieces I am offering for sale from my own collection. It's a lovely, three strand hair bracelet, with gold (10 or 15 carat) fittings and clasp. The bracelet, circa 1860, is in excellent condition. It measures 6 and 1/4 inches long (not counting one end of the clasp), and 1/4 inches wide. There are initials on the clasp which I think are :"TBC", but it could possibly be "FBC." This is a wonderful example of jewelry crafted from hair.

This is a very nice, gold (though I don't know the weight) mourning ring, with hair under a bezel. It's hard to see because of the glass, but the hair is dark and nicely woven. The chasing around the glass is very typical of this period. The curved shank is also lovely, and this ring is a little unusual because of the engraving all the way around the inside of the shank, and the back of the bezel. This is a very nice piece which, at one time, was a brooch, and some later ancestor, most likely, has converted it into a pendant. It actually makes a very nice pendant. This is a lovely brooch, with a portrait miniature painted on jet. The piece still has the original "c' clasp, and "t" hinge, and it measures 3 and 1/4 inches East to West, and 2 and 1/4 inches North to South. The brooch is circa 1860, and is in very good condition. There are a few scratches on the jet, not the portrait, which show in the photo. Remember, I am using a macro lens, though, so the scratches show up more in the picture than they would to the naked eye.

This is a lovely little jet locket. It has a cameo on the front that is pink (angelskin?) and a nice place on the back, covered with glass, for the picture of a loved one, The material on the back is solid blue; the glare from the sun in the photo makes it look spotty, but it isn't, and forgive my shadow in the jet. This is a beautiful, white enamel (most likely signifying an unmarried person), and the enamel is in very good shape for its age. The ring is a size 8 and 1/4 to 8 and 1/2. The gold letters on the white enamel read "Ann Morse Died 22nd of May 1795 aged 85." That was quite an old age for that period of time! This ring still retains its hallmarks, including that of the King's Head. I won't stick this band in acid to test it, but I am sure that it is 18 ct.

This is such a sentimental and lovely piece. It is an 18 ct gold ring with blue enamel on which sets a gold forget-me-not, encrusted with natural pearls. The shank is gold and blue enamel, and on each side the blue enamel forms a cross. At first I thought this was a memorial ring as many are made in this fashion, but then I read the engraving on the back of the ring: "CC to MMD, Dec. 25, 1872," so I believe this to be a love token given to the beloved for Christmas.
