Shagreen Tooth Pick Holder With Tongue Scraper/ Georgian

$650 USDShagreen Tooth Pick Holder With Tongue Scraper/ Georgian

Antiques:Box:Shagreen Toothpick Box, Georgian
This is a very interesting item. It is the traditionally shaped toothpick box, and the old mirror is even still intact. The hinges and clasp on the circa 1820 box are tight and in great working order. This item measures 3 and 1/2 inches East to West, and 1/2 inch North to South.

It is 2 and 1/4 inches deep, and is in the McLean tartan. This is written in tiny gold letters on the side. This would be a nice addition to a Tartan collection.

$100 USDMauchline Tower/Burns Cottage/ 1870

Antiques:Mauchline
This is a rather unusual Mauchline piece. The English dealer who sold it to referred to it as a "tower." I'm not certain what the purpose for the piece is. It has a etching of Burns' cottage on the front, and the top comes off. It measures 3 and 3/4 inches tall with the top on, and 1 and 1/2 half inches in diameter. There is no damage at all to this circa 1870 piece.

This is a very nice piece to commemorate the coronation of George V and Queen Mary in 1911. It is a Spode Whiskey decanter. Victorian Tortoise Lorgnette

Antiques:Tortoiseshell
This is a very nice lorgnette which is a little different from others I have seen. It is composed of tortoise shell, but there's no spring for the glasses to fold out of. They just extend. They could be worn, though, because there is a little ring at the end of the handle. The glasses themselves appear to be simple magnifying glasses. This piece is 7 inches long, and 4 and 5/8 inches wide when the glasses are extended. They are in excellent condition, and date from about 1880-1900.

The dark black mark is the residue of a price ticker I didn't notice before. The case measures 3 and 3/4 inches long, and a little over 1/2 an inch in diameter. Mother-of-Pearl Table Seal, Victorian

$225 USDMother-of-Pearl Table Seal, Victorian

Antiques:Desk Seal:Mother-of-pearl, Victorian
This circa 1850 mother-of-pearl table seal is very interesting. It has an intaglio in the top and the bottom. The bottom appears to be a scribe which looks like "MMD." I can't figure the top out. It looks like something written in Greek letters. Any Greek scholars out there? Anyway, the piece is a solid piece of Mother-of-pearl, and in excellent condition. It is 1 and 1/2 inches tall, and the oval across the top is 2/4 of an inch, East to West.
French Frame, Victorian

The frame is in excellent condition, but what I like about it the best is that it still has the old advertising card inside for the French photographer,
Victorian Snuff Box, Faux Tortoise

$100 USDVictorian Snuff Box, Faux Tortoise

Antiques:Box:Victorian Snuff, Faux Tortoise
This is a Victorian Snuff Box, circa 1890, which is paper mache, I think. It has a heavily lacquered finish on the bottom and sides, and has a painted, faux tortoise, finish on the front. The box measures 2 and 1/2 inches East to West, and a little over 1 and 1/2 inches North to South. It is in excellent condition, and one which is quite unusual. Please excuse the flash glare.

The silhouette itself measures 3 1/4 inches North to South, and 1 and 1/4 inches East to West, and this is the cut silhouette only, ...
Traveling Inkwell, Brass, Victorian

$150 USDTraveling Inkwell, Brass, Victorian

Antiques:Inkwell
Here we have another of the nice traveling inkwells. This one is brass, circa 1880, and somewhat resembles a cigarette lighter. It sits on a stand and opens to reveal an ink reservoir. It fits very tightly, so the ink wouldn't spill. This piece measures 1 and 1/2 inches North to South, and 1 and 3/4 inches East to West. The inkwell is in perfect condition. Polished, and I'm leaving that to the new owner, the brass would look like gold.
Mauchline Go-T0-Bed

$165 USDMauchline Go-T0-Bed

Antiques:Mauchline:Go-to-bed, Match Safe
This is a nice Mauchline Go-To-Bed--so called because, supposedly the cylinder would hold matches, and one would strike a match on the bottom, and put it in the opening, encased with ivory, on the top, and light his or her way to bed. One side of this piece has a scene of Yarmouth from the Britannia Pier, and the other side is the Wellington Pier, Yarmouth, Norfolk. This piece measures 1 and 7/8 inches tall and is 1 and 3/4 inches in diameter.
Rosewood Tea Caddy, Victorian

$200 USDRosewood Tea Caddy, Victorian

Antiques:Box:Tea Caddy:Rosewood, Victorian
If I do say so myself, this tea caddy is the deal of the year. I got it cheaply, and am passing the bargain along. I believe the wood to be rosewood, though I am not a wood expert. There is a brass decoration on top, never engraved, and brass keyhole covering. The insides of the box are intact, with its double compartments and lids, though one of the lids has been cracked. There are remnants of the lead lining still to be found inside, and the burlap lining on the bottom is still there. There is ...
