This example is a set in which all pieces are marked with the red crown and "Royal Vienna" wording. See illustrations. Despite the suggestion made by this mark, the set was not produced by the Imperial and Royal Porcelain Manufactory, Vienna commonly referred to as Royal Vienna. Instead, it is a product of a modern reproduction manufacturer. The mark is intended to elevate the immediate perception of value for this set and suggest it is 'antique'.

But Royal Vienna ware is very high quality porcelain. Note the heavy, thick makeup of this set. Even the mark is clumsily applied. Knowing that the high prices often paid for Royal Vienna are based on the high quality of the porcelain and decorator work, this set can easily be discounted as much less than what it claims to be.

Never judge an item by the mark you see on its base, alone. Look at the item itself. What is it made of, how well is it made, the manner of its decoration ~ all these characteristics should speak to you first.

This set includes a teapot (chocolate pot), lidded sugar bowl, a creamer, two (2) cups and saucers, and a large serving tray.

The teapot is 9 inches high with the lid, with a 3-inch base, and measures 3 inches across the top without the lip. It is 4 1/2 inches wide. The sugar bowl is 4 3/4 inches tall with the lid, with a 2 1/4-inch base. It is 3 inches wide.

The creamer is 3 inches tall, with a 1 1/4-inch base, and measures 2 1/8 inches across. The cups are each 2 1/2 inches high, with a 1 3/4-inch base, and measure 2 1/2 inches across the top. The saucers are 5 inches in diameter with a 2 3/4-inch inner foot circle. The tray measures 12 x 9 inches.
