Fuchsia and Pink Rhinestone Necklace and Earrings

This example is a commonly available, mass produced jewelry set consisting of necklace and earrings made by a company in the Czech Republic and sold by them via their Web site. Though of recent production and still available for sale - new - these types of rhinestone products are increasingly being represented to buyers as jewelry pieces that are 'vintage' in age. This particular set consists of a gold-tone necklace with prong set pink rhinestones and fuchsia colored glass. None of the pieces bears a maker's mark.

As prices rise for authentically old costume jewelry, fakes and fantasy items are being made with a 'look' of the rhinestone 'bling' avidly sought by an established collector base of dedicated costume jewelry lovers. Dealers and buyers alike need to educate themselves in regard to what may be available on commercial Web sites selling wholesale rhinestone jewelry. If what the buyer wants is a new jewelry set, then there is nothing wrong with them seeking and buying just that type of jewelry. But no buyer should have a new piece represented to them as 'vintage' or find they have been sold a new set at a price that was inflated by the pretense that they were buying 'old' jewelry which was 'rare' because of the color of the rhinestones used to create it.

Nor should the fact such an item as this is in 'excellent condition' be used as an excuse to prop up a price. Since this particular set is in fact new there is nothing extraordinary about it being in 'as new' condition.
