In the 1960s, a young African American man was hanged in Mansfield, Texas. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. went to Fort Worth to provide moral support to the African American community. He was denied space at local hotels. A local family offered him the use of their home and transported him by private car to and from the airport as no taxis would accept Dr. King.
Original 8” x 10” unsigned black and white photograph of Dr. King at the home of his benefactors. Photographed by Calvin Littlejohn (deceased), the premier African America photographer in Fort Worth at the time. Littlejohn’s photographers label is on the photograph. A wonderful piece of original Civil Rights history involving America’s greatest Civil Rights leader in the 20th century.
