A circa 1948 - 1953 Royal Hickman Petty like Glaze Mulberry Sea Shell Vase. This beautiful art pottery piece is from his Tampa, Florida Studio, it is marked with his name, Florida, and the number 579 on the bottom. The original sticker is still attached. Measuring eight and one half inches tall, this mid century find is in excellent vintage condition. There are no cracks or crazing, but there is one flea bite on the rim. The design is indicative of Hickman and perfect for a tropical decor or collector.

First as a metal sculptor and potter in California, then on to Illinois, Royal Hickman worked for Haeger until 1944, but continued to contribute additional designs to the firm during the 1950s on a freelance basis. He operated studio art potteries, in Tennessee and Florida in the 40's and 50's. Hickman also designed crystal animal figurines for the Heisey Glass Company.
