An original Lithograph of “The Sacred Hour by Ferdinand Hodler. The Sacred Hour is an ideal example of the symbolist works Hodler painted between 1890 - 1918. Several versions of this piece were completed with two, four, or six figures.

Ferdinand Hodler, Swiss (1853 - 1918) known as an Art Nouveau Painter and Lithographer, was one of the best-known Swiss artists of the 19th century. The use of repetitive figures in this painting depicts his style of parallelism a principle of repetition essential in the order of nature and the symmetry of the body. Hodler's work influenced the expressionists of the next generation.

It is signed and dated 1911 in the lower right corner. The lettering reads Heilige Stunde on the left, Ferdinand Hodler in the center, and L' heure sacree on the right. It is newly archivally framed and is museum quality. It measures approximately twenty two inches by twenty four inches overall. Of note there is minor scattered foxing mainly in the margins, but it is in overall very good antique condition.
