Basilica of the Madeleine, Vezelay (THE ABBEY CHURCH OF STE. MADELEINE) 1929 Third State Etching Signed in pencil and annotated in ink by the artist, John Taylor Arms (1887 - 1953) American. Known for graphic design, specifically etching and printmaking, this 3rd state of 3 is from the series "French Churches" Edition of 130, and it was printed on blue laid paper by Peter Platt. Measuring 12 3/4 x 7 3/8 inches and inscribed "Third State" in pencil and signed in pencil, this rare piece has some scattered foxing on the edges and some surface foxing in the sky area. A light cleaning would be in order. Otherwise it is in excellent condition.
