This approx. 14 1/2" tall lamp is just gorgeous & in such outstanding condition. The approx. 6" tall x 8" wide shade is fabulous. From it's top rim it slopes downwards in a graceful curve to it's somewhat square rounded corners & scalloped base rim. It's surface is not just a straight slope. It is comprised of various sized puffy bulges & curves (right side photo #2)-hence the name "Puffy". The exterior has been treated with a chemical bath giving it a very silky feel & fine grained frosted appearance. The glass has no cracks, chips, nicks, deep scratches or repairs. With a lot of intense, close inspection to the exterior I found a couple tiny bites to the glass that are more like abrasions then flea bites (see photo # 7 for two sitting next to each other). You can also find, as is normal, some 1/16" & smaller internal bubbles (photo # 7) or shallow pit like remains of blown bubbles. The top & bottom rim of the shade have their original hand cut & beveled edges with no repairs or touch ups. You can find on the entire bottom rim, an original to manufacture, some what rough edge (photo # 7) from the hand cutting/finishing. The interior was first freehand reverse painted with the pansies and butterflies. Then a clear coat was done over the entire interior and the shade was fired to fix the enamels (photos # 5 & 6A-B). When viewed from the exterior thru that frosted surface the finished effect is then a beautiful, soft, misty group of large pansies & butterflies (photo # 4). The interior paint is in excellent condition. You can find some tiny fine lines or minute spots of loss (photo # 6 B white specks marked by red<) to the floral/butterfly art. It was impossible to get my head & loop into the shade but some of these appear to be wear & some appear to be just missing paint during the brush stroke. These spots again are very tiny & only visible from the interior view. You can not see them when looking at the exterior of the shade due to it's frosted surface & thickness of glass. There is also some minor loss of the clear coat (which has darkened with heat and age up by the top rim) (photo # 7). This is an unavoidable, expected age/usage flaw from the shade being rubbed against the top of the halo where it sits. With the metal shade cap on approx. 50% of it is not visable. The shade has two marks on it's interior just above the rim. The 1st is very blurry but appears to be the word "Patented" & an unreadable date (photo # 6 C). The other mark (photo # 6 D) is "The Pairpoint" with the balance on a green leaf & unreadable. I believe I see a "C" at the start of it which would stand for Corporation. In 1900 Pairpoint Mfg. Co. changed their name to "The Pairpoint Corporation" per Rainwater. The lamp base, halo, cap & screw for shade attachment are all the originals. We are assuming the bulb socket might be original but the cord, plug and switch have been replaced for safety. The lacquer finish on the base has it's expected wear (patina) allowing the silver plated metal underneath to darken in places (photo's # 8 & 9). It has a Pairpoint signature, model number & an original label regarding cleaning on the underside (photo # 9). With it's stunning shade & lovely patterned base this lamp will be a true treasure in your home. Remember we do offer layaway.
