This Galle vase has great coloration & pattern definition. It appears to be blown in 6 layers-a very dark, dusty plum, a med lavender, a pale blue, clear and a yellow interior with hints of a reddish orange. The work master acid cut back the colors to several different depths giving the floral motif great visual appeal. In front of my window the flowers are a shaded mix of lavender tinted charcoal grays & gray tinted slate blues. Away from my window it becomes shades of dusty plums & slate blues with a hint of a greenish turquoise. The leaves on the base of the vase are all that dark plum with the bottom most area appearing almost black as the plum is so dark. I mixed photos of both lights thru out the listing to try to give you a correct feel for the colors but I don't believe I succeeded very well. It is so much prettier in person. The acid cut back also gave the flowers & leaves their realistic curves & fine line definitions. You can find two forms of definition thru out the floral motif. For example one leaf will have raised veins & the next leaf will have veins that have a carved in look. Again - great visual depth. At some points the floral motif has been finished with a light high polished surface. Just beautiful all over work, the colors & textures so carefully planned! The background acid cut back appears so clean because of the layer of clear between the pale blue and the yellow. This left the background a lovely fine grained, silky feeling shaded yellow with hints of an icy pastel yellow & a very faint blush from the reddish orange. The glass is in excellent plus condition with no nicks, chips, deep scratches or repairs. The hand finished, finely beveled, top rim is all original with no touch ups & the base has it's polished pontil. I found only one of those pesky approx. 1/64" flea bites (located on the top rim). The vase has just a couple of those original to manufacture minute acid pit drips & one faintly visible approx 1/16" bubble. Just outstanding condition-very well taken case of! The Galle signature is towards the bottom of the vase done in cameo hidden between leaves. The vase is 8 7/8" tall with a 2 1/8" top dia. & a 2 1/2" base dia. A great size for a display case or decorator accent on a medium sized table. Remember we do offer layaway.
