English Cameo Scent Bottle Circa 1900

We attribute this stunning bottle to Webb as they loved to do this color combination. It is comprised of 3 colors-clear, cranberry & white. They acid cut back the white & cranberry to the clear base leaving a softly textured, frosty background. The cameo floral pattern is a multitude of different shades ranging from white to various pinks to medium cranberry depending on the depth of cut of the pattern. The floral pattern has then been carved with wonderful definition lines giving the flowers & leaves flow & great beauty. Just a beautiful mix of color & pattern-very feminine. The glass is in excellent plus condition with no cracks, chips, nicks, deep scratches or repairs. I tilted the bottle for different angles of light & scanned with my loop & did find a couple of those pesky 1/64" flea bites. You can find the normal occasional interior minute bubble, acid drip pit or impurity as found in blown cameo glass. I did find a slightly larger then 1/32" blown bubble with a touch of cinder. With a loop it looks as though the cinder was between the clear & cranberry. When you look at the bottle with your eyes the remaining portion of cinder looks gray. My camera did a great job of capturing it although with the lens magnification the cinder shows darker. The bottom rim & neck of the bottle have their original hand finished rims. The base of the bottle has it's polished pontil. The bottle has a threaded sterling neck collar & a sterling cap made by Gorham. The interior of the cap has what appears to be it's original cork. The sterling is in excellent condition with no rips, dents, chomps, deep scratches or repairs. It has just a hint of that uneven surface that does not even qualify as indentations. It looks like the occasional shadow or reflection. The threads on the neck & cap are intact with no stripping & screws smoothly. The bottle stands 5 3/8" tall & is approx 3 1/2" wide thru ball with a 2 3/16" base dia. A beautiful bottle in outstanding condition. It would be a true treasure in a cameo glass or perfume collection.
