La Mode Heart Shaped Padlock Compact

I love this circa 1940 figural compact's multi colored gold & textured top. Both the front & back hearts are a satin like finish in a gold color. The padlock ring, front presentation area & the keyhole are glossy gold. Those delightful flowers & leaves have coloration to represent rose & green gold. The side rims of the compact have a lovely cast pattern again in a glossy gold tone. Some extra thought went into this compacts design. The presentation area has never been engraved. The front & back show normal surface scratching/scuffing from usage. Compact closes with a firm click. The push button for opening located on side rim has dulling to color of gold plate. The base of the compact is for loose powder. It has it's original heart shaped La Mode puff & screen. Both are intact with no rips. The puff shows some discoloration spots along front edge. The double sided mirror is not glass but a hi polished chrome plated piece of metal. It closes firmly & does not fall open when compact lightly shaken. The mirror's powder side shows some corrosion spots along outer edge that correspond to the discoloration on the puff. When you open the chrome mirror you find the rouge compartment in the compacts lid. Again there are some corrosion specks on the edge of the rouge's mirror. The puff is not original. There is a pack of rouge powder in the compartment. Both the rouge & powder compartments have discoloration spots to the gold plate from chemicals in the cosmetics. The compact is a little over 3" tall x approx 2 1/2" at widest point x 7/16" deep. A delightful figural compact in lovely condition at a great price.
