In 25 years of doing compacts this was a never seen for Rich. The top is a reversed painted ship on some form of clear plastic/vinyl which is on top of faux guilloche enamel made of what we believe to be a foil. Very inventive! It has a zipper closure & a cloth backside. The interior cup for powder & interior top that holds the mirror are a very strong, dense form of what we believe to be cardboard. The powder screen & puff appear to be original to piece & have no residue. This compact was never used. The mirror appears to be original, has no chips-cracks & is just getting age specks. The interior has a mark of: JAPAN. It does have one little flaw. On the front, to the left of the ship, there is a rectangle 1/2" long x 3/4" wide that is a little darker blue then the rest of the faux enamel. We believe this to have been the original price tag position & that the compact was displayed in a window with sun. This guy is so novel we didn't care & you shouldn't either. Excellent plus unused condition! Size is 3" wide x 2 5/8" tall x 9/16" deep. We believe the compact to be circa 1930 as Spanish galleons were a popular motif in this period.
