This circa 1925 compact was most likely a souvenir from a trip to Italy. It's lovely enamel is mottled to represent Lapis & Turquoise inlay. The enamel is in excellent condition. When viewing with my eyes I see 1 spot in the faux Lapis 3/32" long x 1/32" wide that appeared slightly off color. When I viewed it with a loop I found it is a surface flake. When I viewed entire enamel with my 10 power loop I found a few flea bites to small to measure or see with my eyes. The 800 silver (800 parts per 1000-sterling is 925 parts per 1000) is done with stunning engraved accent & cast pattern work. The side rims of the compact have some spots of smooth surface to the pattern work due to the die's (think of a mold) edges not being clean or well defined. This could be from usage or just not made well defined (see photos). The worst is the back side. The compact has it's original powder screen & pink swans down puff in excellent condition. There is gray along the top edge & a 1/4" spot on the screen that I do not want to try to clean as I feel it will affect the nap. The mirror is the original beveled that has black age spots. The interior base has 3 marks of: 0 - 800(for silver content) - 117 F1 in a cartouche. It is 3 1/4" long x 2 1/4" wide x 1/2" deep. Please read ABOUT US & TERMS OF SALE.
