We felt so blessed to find this amazing piece of jewelry. I call her our Nubian Princess as she is so stunning. If you are a lover of quality, unique antique jewelry she is a must for you! She has a beautifully carved onyx or jet head w/ hand engraved detail in the 18kt gold base. A few of my photos have been lightly over exposed to show the carving on her face & the engraving. She has emeralds, rubies & sapphires inserted into gold & diamonds inserted into silver on her dress bodice. Her head piece has rubies in the flowers & emeralds in the leaves. Using silver for a white contrast was not unusual during this period. White gold was not invented (for want of a better word) yet and platinum was not widely used till about 1900-05 except for France. Her onyx/jet has no chips or cracks and she is missing no jewels. But has a diamond replacement in her headdress instead of a ruby. She has no marks which is normal for this period but has been acid tested for 18kt. Her gold has no rips or tears. Her double pin pronged back is original w/original C clasp of the period. She is an absolutely exquisite piece from circa 1865 and is European in origin. These outstanding pins were done in about 3 periods of time- Georgian, Victorian & mid 20th Century. We guarantee ours to be Victorian. She is 1 7/8" tall x 1 3/8" at widest point x 1" at deepest point. Do not let this fabulous piece pass you by, we do offer lay-a-way. Please read ABOUT US & TERMS OF SALE.
