A dessert plate in a deep pink hand painted with a view of Lumley Castle. Lumely Castle, close to the city of Durham, dates from 1392 and is now a hotel. The plate has diamond registration mark dated 26 February 1855 for the firm of Lockett, Baguley and Cooper of Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire. The short lived partnership operated for a few years around 1855-60.
The plate is in very good condition. There is no damage or restoration. The gilding is in good condition, with a little wear, mainly in the well from stacking, as illustrated. The glaze is finely crazed.
The plate is 9 inches wide.
