A pair of fine Spode (probably) creamware chestnut basket stands decorated with a border of hand painted leaves and flowers. There are no printed or impressed marks. This is a Spode shape although it was probably copied by other factories. The feel of the stands is definitely Spode, and the stands will date from c.1800-20.
The stands are in very good condition. There is no damage or restoration. There is a little loss of enamel to the rims and a few small brown spots in the wells. There a half in slightly blue spot on one stand where the glaze has pooled. There is some crazing to the glaze, mainly where it has pooled slightly.
The stands are 9.1 inches by 6.4 inches.
