Victorian Peek Hole Double Sided Door Knocker Stained Isinglass

Knock, Knock,"Peek Who's There" A great cast iron door knocker with leaded Isinglass squares . The reverse side of the knocker has a door that opens so the home owner could view who was on the other side of the door knocking. The cast iron grill measures 4 x 8 1/2 inches long and the width of the grill is 4 inches. The entire piece measures 6 x 12 inches and probably fit inside of an inside outer door. Please note one of the glass squares has a crack in the corner.

On the solid door it reads Dorgril patented, Patent 174756. Trying to do research on this name and patent number was very difficult. The closest I could come was 1876. This may or may not be correct on that exact date.

Also, please notice one of the pictures is lighter in color this is more true to the glass colors. I brightened the pictures so you could see the grille pattern. This may have been from an old Victorian house in England.

I feel this is a great architectural piece of history.
