Victorian Christmas Tree Hanging Ornament Fairy Light Candle Holder

This molded glass Christmas tree ornament is called a Fairy light. Measuring 3 inches high and 3 inches wide with an inch gold tone filigree edge and metal chain for hanging. At one time it had a hand painted design on the edge but that is long gone. These glass tumblers or cauldrons could either hold a candle or a floating wick. When decorated with faces they also served as ornaments in their own right. They were hung from a wire loop or could be clipped onto the branch. At one time I believe the chain was hung on the inside because of two identical holes opposite of each other. No cracks, scratches or chips. Germany, Circa 1870-1900.
