Vintage Plate - Hunt Scene, Showing Riders on Horses with Hounds

Clearly marked on the back “Made in the Republic of Ireland” and “Arklow”, this 1950s souvenir china plate has a slightly different mark than the other Arklow plate in my shop. This one shows a center transfer image that's different from the other plate – three riders on horses following a pair of running hounds.

Great details – looking beyond the riders, one sees the patchwork of fields surrounded by hedgerows, a true Irish farmland scene. But the action is all about the hunt, and you can feel the action of the chase.

The central image is surrounded by an outer edge in rich Irish green, detailed with fine gold floral and scallop decoration that match the other plate in style and design. Size is 5”across. Condition is excellent – no chips, cracks, hairlines or other problems. The gold trim is in great condition, showing no wear.

I have two Arklow china plates, each with different hunt scenes but matching in style. Be sure to see them both.
