From the middle of the 1800s, this bone needleholder was originally exported to the western world from China. Many, many sewing items came from China during this period, and this one is a sweet example of the hand-etched informal country designs which make them so recognizable. This holder shows homes, mountains, a sun, trees and birds etched completely around the circumference.

Size is 3 inches long. Condition is Very Good - no cracks, chips, breaks. The threading on this holder works well, allowing the cap to be screwed tightly to it’s base, and it still has a needle inside.
