Lots of great old sewing items! See below for info on photo @ right.
Around 1908, a stylist by the name of Marcel of France introduced his newest hair waving style, and called it the Marcel wave. It revolutionized hairdressing techniques throughout England, and became the most popular trend of the day. The Marcel Wave was a technique which curled the hair with hot irons, in a waved arrangement around the head. Permanent waves followed soon after. If you look closely at these receipt books, you’ll see that the Marcel Wave and the Permanent Wave are both mentioned on these receipt books, along with many other hair dressing treatments.
Size is 3-1/2 inches by 6-1/4 inches. They are in Very Good Condition, still showing their rich green color.
