Want something to admire while at work in your office that is functional too ? Love horses ? This vintage piece of porcelain was made to use...and yet it is so beautiful, it was cabinet kept instead by a person who collected horse figurines. The horse's head is hollow with a wide opening inside the mane, perfect to hold pens and such...although it might have been created as an ash tray, I am of the opinion it was not due to the fact the horse's head is too large to hold cigarettes, and there is no lip to rest the cigarette. It is so beautiful, surely it is a book piece and if so, I am sure someone will tell me it's true purpose. In the meantime, I think it is beautiful to use on the desk, or just to display. The base is 7 inches x 5.5 inches and it is 6 inches tall. No chips or cracks. I do see a residue on the back side where the head fits the base , created when made , not sure..might be old hardened dirt as sometimes people would put plants in this type item too ( shocking I know, but , I remember my Mother having her plants in some of the most beautiful Royal Copley planters that merit as display pieces in today's world. From me to you, perfect for those who love horses..oh my, that means everyone in the world, don't you agree :-)
