Here's a vase with beauty beyond words. It is 8 inches tall, and commands the eye, even if a long ways across the room. It is a double walled pierced reticulated vase. The colors stunning...a cream back round, turquoise color hand painted beading and accents...mustard color within the beading...hand painted golden-gilt accents the openwork areas. You have to look at the signature with a lighted magnifying glass, and then it is still difficult to see, so, I have arrows point to the marking in one of the photos. The base has hand painted gilt dots of which has worn away due to age, however, still presents well. The medallions around the neck once had a star design, however, that has worn away and only a trace remains on 2 of the medallions. This is a very early piece of Zsolnay , and truthfully one of the finest I have had the pleasure of offering. It is an estate item of a doctor who invested in fine antiques. It is signed, Zsolnay Pecs 2081. Crazing though out the body, however this has only enhanced it's beauty. The top rim of the neck has some flaking of the glaze, very minor. It's an amazing piece.
