I have collected antique trade cards, antique paper, post cards..you name it, if it's antique paper,I collect it...and have for around 25 years. This item is from my collection ( all of the paper items in my store are from my collection ). It is an actual hand mirror. It is 9 3/4 inches tall. The lithograph semi rigid paper body is strong enough to hold the actual mirror that is revealed on the reverse side. Although the mirror has age spots, you can still see your reflection. H O'Neill & Co must have taken a whole block because the address is : 321, 323, 325, 327, & 329 6th Ave....103, 105, 107, 109 & 111 W 20th St New York...all of this is on the top of the mirror beside of the company title. The mirror side has the chubbiest tummy cherubs ever seen, along with a moonlit scene and roses. Notice, the handle does have a crease, however, you can hold the mirror at the tip of the handle and the crease does not give, it is sturdy, not weak...that's because a semi hard paper board is between the two lithographed sides. The other side of the mirror has a lovely lady gazing at your world. If you collect hand mirrors, this is a must have..I doubt if you will see another full size hand mirror from the 1800's era advertising trade card...If you collect trade cards, this is a must have...mirror trade cards...well, when do you ever see them....That string you see around the handle has always been there, don't know why...but, I never removed it. This item has never been in an antique shop...it was passed down from generation to generation...from the same estate as the rare New York silk invitation I have listed in my shop.
