This beautiful Bailey Biddle and Banks coffee service tea set is in excellent ready to enjoy condition. Well signed as follows : Made in England Expressively for The Bailey Biddle and Banks Co. Philadelphia " ...followed by hallmarks, ( please use Ruby Lane enlarge photo option to view hallmarks etc.) ....then...the English registry number which is : R N 258461. Researching the English Registry dating system on the date, this number means the set was made circa 1895 - 1896. The set also is signed with more numbers as follows, 4648N ( probably the pattern number ) Silver Soldered...( this is not sterling , it is finest quality silver plate ) ...it also has hand etched numbers as shown in the photographs. The set consists of : Water pot that fits onto burner , coffee pot , tea pot , cream , and sugar. The sugar does not appear to have had a lid. It is a large sugar being , 8 inches across handle to handle and 8 1/8 inches tall. The largest pot is 9 inches tall , 9 inches across. The burner has a key each end..the water pot sits on the burner, you slip the key into the barrel of the pot...chains hang from the key which truly creates a luxury appearance. You will be amazed at the condition of the elegant item. Well kept, a cherished family heirloom passed down several generations. The coffee pot still has the little cloth filter intact inside.
