Aquatint Etching Claude Monet’s Village – Joly

This print is called an aquating etching made from a plate engraving. It is one of many scenes of Givemy, France, Claude Monet’s village. This print is the 14th in a series of prints. I do not know how many prints there were in this series. The signature appears to be Joly. I believe it is Guy Joly and he is a 20th century French printmaker. This is from the early 1950’s and the size of print is 12” x 9” (that is including the border), picture is 7 ¾” x 6”. The picture is in very good condition but the border has some small foxing around edges and a small amount of water damage on one edge. It would not be evident after the print is framed. (This could be removed by a restorer or conservator.) Does not detect from overall beauty of this piece.
