SOLD Signed Iridescent Earrings By Lisner

The David Lisner & Company of New York City, New York was in business form 1904 to about 1985. Lisner and his wife ran a mercantile store and sold goods bought from jobbers at this time. When David passed on in 1923, the company was taken over by the elder Lisner’s son, Sidney; which was later joined by his cousin Saul Ganz. Up until the 1930's all of Lisners jewelry was imported from France and sold wholesale. It was in the 1930's when trade with Europe became difficult that Lisner turned to a Providence Road Island firm to manufacture his jewelry and place his name on the pieces. Lisner’s product was considered “low end” as it sold for only a few dollars in the 1950's; however it was always considered “high quality” as it was made with quality materials and is attested to by the set of earrings I am selling here today.

The trademark, “LISNER©” in block letters with the copyright symbol started to be used in 1955. Made of faceted cut glass beads they shimmer an iridescent shade of pale yellow with shades of light blue and green depending on the way the light catches them. One center bead is surrounded by 10 smaller faceted cut glass beads. Each is hand wired together and placed onto the clip back earrings. The entire earring measures 7/8Th of an inch wide.

Through my investigation of this manufacturer I have found that Lisner is becoming more and more sought after by collectors because it so well made and still very affordable.
