Antique Sterling Silver French Enamel Scottish Thistle Brooch Pin

This is a lovely Edwardian sterling silver brooch. Finished with fine, vitreous glass (kiln-fired) enamel, it features a pretty Scottish thistle design in violet purple, green and white, with some pale yellow accents. The enamel is semi-translucent, revealing a textured basse-taille surface underneath that lends the piece a wonderful sense of depth and dimension.

Measuring 1 13/16" wide by 7/8" tall, the brooch is in excellent vintage condition. It is of a quality that suggests Watson, but it is marked only "sterling" on the back. It has a simple c-clasp and a needle that extends slightly beyond the front of the brooch, common with very old pieces.
