SOLD Vintage Sterling Enamel Norway David-Andersen Butterfly Brooch Multi-Color

This stunning vintage brooch is by David-Andersen of Oslo, Norway. Made of sterling silver with a gold vermeil wash, the butterfly is finished with vitreous glass (kiln-fired) enamel over a highly detailed, textured surface. The translucent enamel is applied in a lovely combination of sky blue with hand-painted details in yellow, rust, white, and black on the wings, with the body done in blue and brown.

This is the large version of Andersen's popular butterflies, measuring 2 3/8" by 1 3/8". The back has a rollover safety clasp and is signed "D-A Norway" with the scales hallmark on one side and "925S Sterling" on the other. The piece is in excellent condition, with no damage to the enamel whatsoever.
