SOLD Sterling Enamel Norway David-Andersen Butterfly Brooch Pin Vintage Large

This stunning vintage brooch is by David-Andersen of Oslo, Norway. Made of sterling silver with a gold vermeil wash, the butterfly is finished with vitreous glass (kiln-fired) enamel over a highly detailed, textured surface. The translucent enamel is a lovely shade of sky blue on the wings, with the body done in glossy, opaque black.

This is the large version of Andersen's popular butterflies, measuring 2 3/8" by 1 3/8". The back has a rollover safety clasp and is signed "D-A Norway" with the scales hallmark on one side and "925S Sterling" on the other. Aside from some slight rubbing to the vermeil on the back of the brooch, the piece is in excellent condition, with no damage to the enamel whatsoever.
